Privacy PolicyRec2Gen.com values the privacy of our customers and site users, so we have implemented a number of policies to ensure that customer information is not misused. We make every attempt to ensure that the site and database remain secure from unauthorized access. Information we collect from customers is clearly identified as being for publication or for internal use, so the customer knows which records are public. Cookies Our site uses session cookies to help identify logged-in users as they move from one page on the site to another. These cookies must be enabled in the users browser for members to allow effective use of the site, but they may be deleted between sessions it the user wishes, which can be done with a browser setting (delete cookies when browser closes). Likewise, some advertisers may use their advertising spot to attempt to plant cookies -- this behavior can also be prevented with browser settings (disallow third party cookies). This site attempts to contact owners of sites added to the directory with one-time notifications to allow the site owner to check the listing for accuracy. Those are one-time mailings and not repeated. When joining the site, prospective members must provide an email address, and the access password is sent to that address. Those email addresses are stored as part of the member profile, but they are not used unless (or until) the member actively sets their option to receive notifications, or request a password reminder. Members can choose to receive notifications from this site, using settings in their control panel. Those settings allow no contact by default, members must actively choose to receive email notifications. Sharing Information Users choose an arbitrary user name when joining Rec2Gen, and that is the identity presented to the public. Other information, such as their real name, website, and collecting interests may be added to the profile, if the member wishes to make such facts public. Adding profile details is optional, and is not required in order to use the site. User information not on public display, such as email addresses, and traffic logs are not shared with any outside parties. |
